Dead Mall: A Holiday Horror Game
Christmas is tomorrow, and what better place to do your holiday shopping than the town's abandoned mall? Collect as many gift boxes as you can, bring them to the getaway car, and make your escape!
Explore an ever-changing/procedurally-generated mall, watch out for power outages, and if you're lucky, you may even catch a meet-and-greet with Frosty the snowman...
I recently stumbled across an indie game called Dead Mall by Ice Key Studios. The game is pretty simple, You enter the town's abandoned mall, collect gifts, load them into your car, and make your getaway. The only challenge? Frosty the Snowman is chasing after you. I won’t go into detail about the conflict, but you can watch the video of my gameplay on Threads.
What makes this game great is how it blends classic arcadism, liminality, vaporwave (mallsoft), and horror into one cohesive experience. The music and sound design are fantastic, enhancing the atmosphere beautifully. If you’re intrigued, consider supporting the developers by downloading the game for Windows, Linux, or Mac.
